6 albums that you shouldn't miss

We selected 6 notable releases from the past weeks and month. It's a short list but it covers different genres so there's something for every taste. On our Spotify playlist (this one on your left) you will find all the bands of the list and many more.

Artist/Band: Dawes
Album: Passwords
Release Date: June 22
Genre: Soft Rock/Indie Rock
For fans of: Bruce Hornsby, Don Henley, Fleetwood Mac
Dawes take a trip to 80s rock on Passwords. Great lyrics (as always) and beautiful arrangements included. It seems like their days as an americana/folk band are long gone.

Artist/Band: Jim James
Album: Uniform Distortion
Release Date: June 29
Genre: Indie Rock/Rock & Roll
For fans of: Dinosaur Jr., Neil Young
My Morning Jacket have been going for a more indie/electronic sound lately. However Jim James (the frontman of MMJ) goes for guitars and rock'n'roll here making "Uniform Distortion" a really fun and pleasant record.

Artist/Band: Lucifer
Album: Lucifer II
Release Date: July 6
Genre: Heavy Metal/Doom Metal
For fans of: Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Ghost
Lucifer are basically a 21st century Black Sabbath fronted by a woman. So if you're into 70s rock/metal, you're in for a treat.

Lucifer II

Artist/Band: None Dare Call It Conspiracy
Album: Pawns and Kings
Release Date: June 29
Genre: Groove Metal/Modern Metal
For fans of: Chimaira, Disturbed, Killswitch Engage
This Finnish band delivered on their second full-length a collection of heavy and catchy tunes. One of their greatest merits is to never sound way too poppy or commercial like many similar bands.

Artist/Band: Skeletonwitch
Album: Devouring Radiant Light
Release Date: July 20
Genre: Progressive Black Metal/Thrash Metal
For fans of: Ancient Ascendant, Enslaved, Immortal
This album is not out yet but judging by the songs we've heard so far (especially the epic opening track "Fen of Shadows"), Skeletonwitch's first full length with a new vocalist finds the band digging deeper on black metal and more intricated/progressive compositions.

Artist/Band: Street Dogs
Album: Stand for Something or Die for Nothing
Release Date: June 22
Genre: Punk Rock
For fans of: Bad Religion, Dropkick Murphys, Rancid
We had to wait 8 years for a new Street Dogs' album but it was totally worth the wait. "Stand for Something or Die for Nothing" has it all: the heart-pumping melodies, the anthemic choruses, the passionate singing by war veteran, ex-fireman Mike McColgan and the politically charged lyrics. What else could you possibly ask for a punk rock record?
