5 albuns you shouldn't miss

We're back with another list of notable releases from the past weeks. As usual you can find on our Spotify playlist (this one on your left) all the bands mentioned.

Artist/Band: Axegruinder
Album: Sartori
Release Date: July 13
Genre: Crust Punk/Thrash Metal
For fans of: Amebix, Discharge, Ministry
"Sartori", Axegrinder's second album, comes exactly 29 years after their debut album. What's even more impressive is that the band's sound is still pretty much the same: nasty, dirty crust punk with thrashy riffs.

Satori

Artist/Band: Chastity
Album: Death Lust
Release Date: July 13
Genre: Post-hardcore/Alternative Rock
For fans of: Basement, Deftones, Superheaven
Chastity is a project conceived by Canadian musician Brandon Williams. On his debut album he's able to bring together 90s alternative rock and metal (such as Smashing Pumpkins and Deftones), post-hardcore (think Basement) and even shoegaze. On the top of that you have lyrics about heavy themes such as isolation and anger.

Artist/Band: Habitants
Album: One Self
Release Date: June 28
Genre: Darkwave/Avant Rock/Post Rock
For fans of: Frequency Drift, The Gathering, The Gentle Storm
Habitants is the new musical project by the Rutten brothers, former members of beloved group The Gathering. After a successful pledge campaign, the band released their debut album. Fans of the  Gathering's latest albums will probably dig "One Self" as it follows the same musical direction with delicate, minucious compositions and beautiful female vocals. As the band put, their music can be described as film noir music.

Artist/Band: Jungle Rot
Album: Jungle Rot
Release Date: July 20
Genre: Death Metal
For fans of: Bolt Thrower, Kataklysm, Obituary
At this point it's safe to call Jungle Rot a Death Metal Institution. With 23 years of existence and 11 albums under their belt, Jungle Rot show no sign of slowing down. Actually, it's quite the opposite since their self-titled album is one of their best albums to date. The 10 tracks of the album are pure Death Metal attack with slashing and fast moments but also plenty of groove.

Artist/Band: The Agony Scene
Album: Tormentor
Release Date: July 20
Genre: Metalcore/Melodic Death Metal
For fans of: Chimaira, Lamb of God, The Haunted
One of the many bands from the 2000s Metalcore era, The Agony Scene are back with their first album in eleven years. Metalcore is still their main genre but "Tormentor" shows the band ressurrected even more extreme leaning heavily towards Death Metal and the Gothenburg's style . The riffs are technical and brutal and Mike Williams must have been very pissed when he was recording his vocal parts.
